Ok, we got the message mother nature, the rainy season started! But June came about! and as usual we have beautiful and sunny blue skies! Today is amazing day, it´s warm and sunny, the birds are happy and singing and you can hear the bees doing their job (I know it sounds like a Disney´s movie) but it´s that nice here!
For those not familiar with tropical weather, I´ll try to explain it as simple as possible: The Tropics is a designated area around the earth between 23.5° north latitude (Tropic of Cancer) and 23.5 south latitude (Tropic of Capricorn). This is the area of the earth that gets the most direct sunlight during the earths yearly revolution around the sun. Anyone living in this area receives more direct sun rays and the sun passes more directly overhead during the yearly cycle. In the Boquete area, the sun is most directly overhead in early April and mid August of each year.
If you are not bored by now, you can better understand our weather a little better now. Those heavy seasonal rains as well as the always present "Bajareque" is what allows the thousands of green shadows that you can see everywhere in Boquete. They are responsible for the lush and exotic plants and flowers and that´s what keeps our valley green and exotic year round. Because of the valley and the mountains, you are able to enjoy rainbows almost every day of the year; there are times that up to three simultaneous rainbows can be spotted in Boquete. And, if you are lucky enough, you´ll be able to witness one of the rarest and most beautiful displays of nature: A night rainbow against a full moon!!! So, what are you waiting for! come to Boquete and enjoy this amazing work of nature, our rainy season is beautiful and ever changing, it let us witness that our planet still has balance and that even though we are doing our best to unbalance it, mother nature still find equilibrium. | Boquete is still almost untouched by our evil human hand. Help us keep it that way! Don´t litter, eat natural local food, travel by foot or bike, and enjoy what nature still has to offer. La Casa de la Abuela is waiting for you!! (and come to enjoy our reduced rates this season!!) |
